How Much Baggage is Allowed in Air India Flight?

You've booked your flight with Air India, and you're about to fly to your destination, but you are confused or don't know how many bags are allowed on Air India. Carry on the baggage policy of Air India

• On Air India, you are allowed to travel with one piece of hand luggage and one personal item such as a satchel or aircraft bag. 
• The dimensions of your hand baggage must be as follows: height 55.8 cm (22 inches), length 35.5 cm (14 inches), width 25.4 cm (10 inches).
• The total dimensions of the hand baggage must be less than 114.98 cm (45.27 inches).
• Hand baggage must weigh less than 8 kg in economy class and 12 kg in business class. 
• You are not allowed to carry more than 10 kg of hand baggage in economy class. 
• If you are a Star Gold customer, you may carry only one piece of hand baggage due to certain security concerns.

Checked baggage policy of Air India 

Economy class 

• If you travel in comfort class, you can only carry 20 kg. 
• In Comfort Plus and Flex class, you can check in 25 kg of baggage on Air India. 

Premium economy class

• In the Comfort Plus class, you can carry up to 30 kg, and in the Flex class, you can carry 35 kg.

Business class 

• Passengers in the Comfort Plus class can carry 35 kg, and those in the Flex class can carry 40 kg. 

First class 

• If you are traveling in first class, your baggage should not weigh more than 40 kg.

Checked baggage allowance 

• If you are a Star Alliance customer, you can carry an additional 20 kg of baggage in Economy Class.
• Infants are allowed to carry a folding stroller, carrycot, or child car seat.
• The maximum weight of a single baggage item must not exceed 32 kg/71 lb. 
• In economy class, the total dimensions (length + width + height) of both pieces of baggage must not exceed 272 cm/107 in, and each piece must not exceed 157 cm/62 in.
• In business and first class, the combined total dimensions (length + width + height) of each baggage item must not exceed 157 cm/62 in.

Carry on baggage 

• Sporting goods: baseball bats, bows and arrows, cricket bats, golf clubs, field hockey sticks, lacquer sticks, billiard cues, skis, and shotguns. 
• Firearms and ammunition such as BB guns, pellet guns, starter pistols, air guns, and air pistols, or their spare parts.
• The Avalanche rescue backpack contains cartridges of compressed gas in Division 2.2.

Checked baggage 

• E-cigarettes like e-cigars, e-pipes, other personal vaporizers, all forms of electronic nicotine delivery systems, and electronic hookah.
• Toxic and infectious substances: Insecticides, weed killers, and live viruses.
• Luggage containing installed lithium batteries or non-removable batteries exceeding 0.3 g lithium metal or 2.7 Wh.
